A Local July Rove at the POTA MANIA event with the Phi-Mont Club
July POTA Event Phil-Mont July 13, 2024 - AA2SD/R -Thank You to all Phil-Mont and Pack Rat l operators from the Phil-Mont POTA MANIA event at Fort Washington State Park this past weekend. I set up with (3) bands 6 Mtrs, 222 Mhz and 2 Mtrs with my Rover set up and enjoyed a nice opening on 6 Mtrs from FN20JK.
I used a M2 10 Element 222-10EZ for 222 MHz, and also had good success with a 2 element HB9CV Diamond 6 Mtr Beam #A502HB. For 2 Mtrs I used a (11) element Cushcraft A144-11 antenna. The 6 Mtr opening included contacts to GA, SC and South Dakota from my mobile set up. My Rover rig is a FT991A for these contacts.
A special thank you to Mike N2DEQ who donated his Cushcraft antenna to me for Rover use. I am pleased to report that "your old antenna has'' new life on the air" (11) element 440 and Cushcraft A144-11 2 meters antenna (12 foot boom now cut in 3 sections for roving with pins, I adapted this antenna with a quick release mount.

Phil-Mont POTA MANIA
Dear Fellow Club Members and Operators
Hello Fellow Operators, I am a local Rover with Mount Airy VHF Pack Rats and will be operating with fellow Pack Rat Jim KC3BVL at the Phil Mont POTA MANIA event located at Fort Fort Washington State Park Pavilion MHL-1 this Saturday. I will be setting up Horizontal Yagi gain antennas for 6 Mtrs and 2 Mtrs and 222Mhz with a rotor. I plan to make contacts on 6 Mtrs and we can run the other bands. Jim KC3BVL will be working 2 mtrs.
The sporadic e propagation has been good on 6 Mtrs, and 222 Mhz as we are in the start of the summer, point your beams our way during Saturday morning
